Terry Manning has been bushwalking around Victoria for the last 22 years – which is not bad for someone who is 73 years young.

The Melton local, who is also the President of the Melton Bushwalking Club, is a big fan of the dirt track the runs along the eastern bank of the Werribee River/Reservoir that is the major feature of the Waterford community.

“It’s such a beautiful track and such a beautiful river! When first hearing of the Waterford development along the river I thought it would mean the Melton locals would lose a valuable resource,” Terry said.

Recently, along with some fellow members of the Bush Walking Club, Terry visited Waterford and was given a tour of the estate by Land Sales Manager Brad Morris. (see pic)

Terry saw firsthand the plans for the Waterfront which will include not only regeneration of the riverbank but parklands, a proper bike & walking track, observation decks, bbq shelters, exercise stations and an outdoor amphitheatre which will all open to the public.

“They are offering more than I ever could expect! I’m extremely happy to know that my children and grand-children will be able to enjoy this area as much as I have – even more so.”

Waterford is set upon 2.5 kilometres of pristine river frontage and the reservoir is home to the famous Melbourne Runabout & Speedboat Club’s annual Gold Cup boat race weekend that Waterford sponsors as part of its community program.

The 2500 lot development, set to be complete in 2020, will house more than 7000 people and has already sold more than 200 blocks since launching in March.

Waterford spokesman Mr Chris Betts said Waterford will be a stand alone community with a neighbourhood shopping centre, private catholic school, a government primary school and its own child care centre.

“With public transport walking distance from the front gate (2.2kms) and a dedicated bus line to service the estate Waterford is just minutes from Melton and 45 minutes from the CBD,” he said.

Mr Betts said Waterford offered views of the rolling hills and valleys at the backdoor and access to extensive retailing and community facilities at the front door offering a rural feel in an urban location.

The hub of Waterford will be a magnificent $14 million Residence Recreation Club and Tavern perched high on the banks of the river offering a full gym, pool & spa, tennis courts, lawn bowling, tavern & sports bar and function facilities.

“We are building an entire community, not a housing estate,” said Mr Betts said.

He said Waterford was a master planned community that would offer a wide range of housing options to cater for all sections of the community.
